Purpose:
To fill in the open area at the lower front spoiler.
This is a totally cosmetic modification that is easy, fast
and adds very much to the frontal appearance of my GTP without
being "ricey". The grills actually come from
a Dodge RAM pickup truck (ok, no comments from the peanut
gallery! <grin!> ). They are then trimmed to the
proper size and shape of the spoiler openings and screwed
into place by three screws on each insert. The finished
look is totally stock looking and professional. Besides,
I think they look very cool! Total install time: 10
minutes!
Here's how it looks (don't mind the bugs!):

I first saw this mod on the GTP of Mike
Bouchard during his attendance of the Montreal GTP gathering
(July 25, 1999). I expressed interest in also getting
a set. This gentleman was NICE enough to put aside a
grill from an accidented vehicle and let us know that
it was available. He even did the install for me in
the comforts of his driveway. Thanks Mike, I will always
appreciate it!
How its done:
The first part is locating the grills. One
can either spend tons of time looking around in the scrapyards
or simply contact Mike Bouchard for pricing and availability.
Mike can be reached at:
Once the grills are in hand, they are shaped the same shape
as the lower spoiler openings using a template. Then
its simply a matter of getting down on your back and screwing
them in. Total install time is about 10-15 minutes.
The effects are very pleasant... I love it!
